In-Depth
The year is 1996, and the place is St. Amelia, a small coastal town off Scotland. Here you play as Simon Ordell, who returns to the island to put things right. However, Simon keeps waking up in the water near the docks. He has no memory of his connection to the town.
Therefore, you must piece together fragments of the past, one by one. Soon, St. Amelia reveals its darker side. In fact, reality and delusion begin to overlap. Moreover, the locals hide secrets that nobody wants to remember.
The voice cast is outstanding. Jovan Adepo voices Simon. Then comes Kezia Burrows as Zoe, a nurse. Finally, Terry O’Quinn plays the enigmatic Richard.
What To Expect
✦ The first full-length first-person Silent Hill, built in Unreal Engine 5.
✦ A brand-new setting: the fog-bound Scottish island of St. Amelia, in 1996.
✦ The CRTV, a handheld TV that evolves the series’ iconic radio.
✦ Multiple approaches to every encounter: stealth, melee combat, firearms and puzzles.
✦ Five endings, two of them unlocked only in New Game+.
Gameplay
First of all, Silent Hill: Townfall is all about tension. It is a first-person psychological survival horror. As a result, every dark corridor feels like a real threat.
The CRTV sits at the heart of the gameplay. It is a small cathode-ray TV that Simon always carries. Like the radio in the classic games, it detects nearby enemies. Moreover, the device shapes the story, the stealth and the puzzles.
When monsters close in, you choose how to react. For example, you can sneak past them. Alternatively, you can fight back with planks, pipes and other makeshift weapons. Finally, your subtle choices steer the story toward one of five endings. The main campaign lasts around 10-14 hours.
Trivia
✦ St. Amelia is based on St Monans, a real fishing village in Fife, Scotland.
✦ Annapurna Interactive introduced the studio to Konami.
✦ Producer Motoi Okamoto trusted the team after playing Stories Untold and Observation.
✦ The studio rebranded from No Code to Screen Burn in July 2025.
✦ Pilotpriest, a synth composer known for dark soundscapes, wrote the music.
